Aloe Vera - The Empress of Medicinal Plants

Hardly any other plant offers this abundance of possibilities for internal and external use.

The aloe vera belongs to the lily family. It grows mainly in East Africa, South and Central America, the Canary Islands, as well as in the countries around the Mediterranean. The main producer worldwide is Mexico.

The plant particularly thrives in extremely hot, dry regions. It is precisely these conditions that ensure that the plant, which is reminiscent of a cactus, stores large amounts of moisture and nutrients in its leaves.

Aloe Vera thrives in sunny, hot places

Although there are over 300 different types of aloe, very few of them contain the coveted ingredients that are so beneficial for us. The most common species (also by us) is the Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller.

The first indications for the use of aloe vera as a medicinal plant are more than 5.000 years old and come from Egypt, where it was known as the blood of the gods or the plant of immortality.

A pool of valuable ingredients

Since aloe vera has become an indispensable part of many care and healing products in our modern world, more than 160 ingredients have been identified in the leaves, including many vitamins, enzymes, amino acids, sugar compounds and minerals.

One of the best-known compounds from the group of polysaccharides (multiple sugars) is acemannan. The protective properties of this active ingredient against bacteria, viruses and fungi were investigated as early as the early 90s. Therefore, the acemannan content in the leaves or gel of the aloe vera is often used as a quality criterion.

From the range of vitamins, there are mainly vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, E and folic acid. These vitamins help us primarily with regard to our metabolism, detoxification, building up our bones and as radical scavengers.

The picture is rounded off by at least 7 different amino acids and numerous enzymes that also support our metabolism and our immune system.

Isolation of the aloe vera gel from the leaves

In order to be able to use the health-promoting properties, the leaves of the plant must first be processed accordingly. Even if these are occasionally processed in their entirety, in most cases only the gel fillet in the leaves is removed and used.

After harvesting, the leaves are first freed from soil residue with water and the characteristic thorns on both sides of the leaves are removed. Skilled workers then separate the shell from the top and bottom of the leaf with two targeted cuts and a suitable cutting tool, leaving what is known as the gel fillet.

Aloe Vera - an all-rounder in health promotion

Aloe Vera is now used in a number of indications to support healing. The gel of the leaves can be used both internally, e.g. B. in the form of capsules, mixed drinks or tinctures, as well as for external use in the form of gels, creams, pastes, shampoos, etc. use. The isolated gel fillet from the leaves can also be used directly without further processing.

Aloe Vera - an all-rounder for your health

When taking aloe vera, it is important to separate the aloin from the leaf shells. Therefore, you should pay attention to high-quality production and, if necessary, proof of appropriate certificates.

A large number of studies show that aloe vera is particularly beneficial for irritated and stressed skin. The spectrum ranges from light sunburns to dermatoses to real injuries to the skin - and not only on the outer skin areas, but also inside the oral cavity on the gums and oral mucosa.

The intake of aloe vera primarily promotes a strengthening of the immune and metabolic systems. Above all, certain polysaccharides, especially acemannan, can stimulate certain immune cells in the body and improve the immune system. However, this seems to be more of an effect of long-term use. Even certain autoimmune diseases, e.g. B. Psoriasis could have a certain influence - however, these findings should be treated with caution because of the still sparse data.

An optimal combination for oral care

In Conaskin Oral Care, there is only 100% natural. In addition to valuable Manuka honey from New Zealand and the powerhouse propolis, Aloe Vera rounds off the recipe. This offers you optimal care for stressed gums and irritated oral mucosa.

By the way, we use an aloe vera dry powder - for three reasons:

  • enrichment
The gel consists of almost 99% water. The gentle freeze-drying process removes this water and thus enriches the important ingredients very strongly. By using powder, we can achieve much higher concentrations of active ingredients in our tincture.
  • Durabilityt
Aloe vera dry powder has a very long shelf life compared to gel.
  • preservatives
Aloe vera dry powder does not need any preservatives to preserve it. This is why our tincture is also free from preservatives.
